About this ebook

Includes the first 1438 pages of the unputdownable Blood of the Isir series.

One of New York’s best criminal profilers, Hank Jensen thought he was prepared for anything life could throw at him. He couldn’t have been more wrong.

On a particularly gruesome case, Hank got too close to the killers—a pair of cannibals who called themselves Norse gods—and one of them laid a crippling curse on Hank. Then they kidnapped his family, and, in so doing, birthed Hank’s epic quest—catch the killers and save his family...even if the multiverse gets in the way.

Wendigo:

Life on the shores of Lake Seneca in the former colony of New York is idyllic—the white colonists live in peace with their Onondowaga neighbors. But the peace is a fragile one…

Everyone respects John Calvin Black—he believes in rational explanations and he treats everyone with respect. So when one of the villagers is savagely murdered and dumped in the forest, John is asked to bring a native tracker to the scene of the crime. John brings a respected warrior and childhood friend, Donehogawa, who claims the murderer is a demon.

It’s a pronouncement that some of the white men can’t accept, and they blame the murder on one of the native tribesmen. John believes Donehogawa is telling the truth but is holding something back.

John is trapped between two cultures and two belief systems, yet he knows the truth must lie somewhere in between. Can he manage the white villager’s anger and the native’s fears? Can he and Donehogawa save both peoples from the evil that stalks them from the cover of the forest?

Errant Gods, Blood of the Isir Book One:

Hank Jensen doesn’t believe in monsters—not the kind Stephen King writes about at any rate.

Hank is one of New York’s best criminal profilers, and he loves his job. But when he meets the Bristol Butchers, all that changes. They are a pair of psychopaths—cannibals. He chases them in spite of the disabling curse they cast on him, in spite of their threats to his family, and when he catches up to them, his horror begins. They claim to be gods—immortal, omnipotent—and they change into monsters before his eyes. Unable to stop them, the battle leaves him sick, despondent, broken. His career is at an end. His only respite is his family.

Years later, the Butchers return to make good on their threats. When his family disappears on Halloween night, Hank decides his time for doing nothing is at an end.

He must chase them to places he thought existed only in myth. He knows they have the power to raise monsters, mythical beings—even the dead—to block his path. How can he, a disabled mortal, overcome gods? How will he overcome his disability, his doubts?

Rooms of Ruin, Blood of the Isir Book Two:

Monsters are real, and Hank Jensen has met some of the worst the multiverse has to offer. As a result, he bears the curse of a hateful, malignant god—a horrid disease that has disabled him.

Hank fought demons, dragons, and mythical beings to rescue his wife and son, but the battle left the family trapped in the realm of the Isir. As his dark curse continues to ravage his body, Hank, his family, and his Isir friends must travel to an ancient, faraway place—the Rooms of Ruin—to reopen the pathways that connect the two worlds.

But the Dark Queen isn’t done with them. She has issued only one command to her servants: drive the Jensen family into the trap she’s laid. That’s not all she has planned, though. She has a secret plan—someone she’s manipulated into betraying them.

Will they discover the traitor in time? How will they avoid the Dark Queen’s trap? What other dangers await them along their path?

STOP EVERYTHING! Your new favorite author is here. In The Blood of the Isir series to date, Erik Henry Vick has created a vivid, vibrant, totally believable world (several, actually), characters to match and a story that just becomes more and more engrossing. ERRANT GODS Errant Gods does indeed compare favorably to Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, and holds up well to the work of JRR Tolkien. All share the Great Quest, which on the face of things, appears fantastically unlikely to succeed. Yet the heroes persist through countless obstacles and setbacks. I also sense an echo, in Vick’s hero Hank Jensen (possibly the most sympathetic protagonist I've read since Danny Torrance in the Overlook Hotel), of Bill Hodges in King’s Mr. Mercedes cycle. They seem to share the same wounded, damaged, relentless persistence in their journeys, despite how implausible success may seem. I just don’t see that kind of doggedness portrayed -- and so well -- very often. Then there are the “Bristol Butchers”, two of the most appallingly horrifying, just plain Evil-with-a-capital-E antagonists I have ever encountered. And that’s just chapter one. Plenty more to come, never doubt it. In short, Vick sucked me into the dark and detailed worlds of this story in less than twenty pages and never let me go until the very end. The path from here to there was strange indeed, spanning worlds and dimensions, peopled with beings of unknown heritage and abilities. Fortunately, this is only Book One. Book Two can’t come out soon enough for this fantasy/horror fan. ROOMS OF RUIN In Rooms of Ruin, Book Two of The Blood of the Isir series, Erik Henry Vick continues his gripping tale , building more and more tension, action and excitement as he does. I haven’t encountered a new author I’ve enjoyed so much since I first discovered Stephen King all those years ago, nor been enraptured by a series like this since the DT series. I cannot *wait* for Book Three -- but I guess I’ll have to. WENDIGO This prequel to Books One and Two tells the backstory of one mysterious character in the later books and demonstrates the antagonists' horrific ingenuity and delight in human destruction. This can be read first or second, but I suggest reading it third - or at least re-reading it after Book Two. You really can't go wrong. Erick Henry Vick is a masterful storyteller and world-builder, deftly creating and developing characters you wish you could join around the evening campfire, as well as truly malefic monsters from the darkest nightmares. Do yourself a favor and follow this guy. He is already writing an epic tale, I'm sure with much more to come.
